FAQs
How do I pick blueberries?
Blueberries grow on a bush in clusters. Only set your eyes on the darkest blue ones, the green or red ones will not continue to ripen after they are picked. Gently roll the berries off the plant and into your hand. They should come off easily without much force. Fill your container as much as you like, we’ll weigh it in the end. Pricing will be posted when you arrive, or check our Facebook page for current prices. We accept cash and credit card payment. Sorry, no personal checks are accepted.
How long do my berries keep?
Blueberries should be washed and consumed within a week or two for fresh eating. Berries should be refrigerated and handled gently to avoid bruising. They have a natural white bloom, or a coating on the berry that will help preserve them. Avoid washing or rubbing off the bloom until they are ready to be consumed. We like to store our berries long term by placing a thin layer on a baking sheet and freezing directly after picking. Once frozen, they can be vacuum bag sealed for best long term storage.
What should I bring?
The sun can be a torturous enemy during the hot months of July and August. We recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and a bottle of water to keep you hydrated during picking. Our bushes are still small and continue to grow each year. We recommend wearing long pants or a kneeling pad (we have some available) to avoid the prickly mulch.
When is the picking season?
The blueberry picking season at Pickablue Farm typically runs from June to August. However, depending on the weather and crop conditions, these dates may vary. We recommend checking our website or contacting us for specific dates each year.
What are the farm's opening hours for blueberry picking?
Our hours are somewhat dependent on how the field is producing. We are typically open for blueberry picking one or two evenings during the week, and will be open on the weekends. Check our main home page for current hours, or our Facebook page for the latest information. Our hours can be weather dependent or subject to change, so it's best to confirm before your visit.

However, we do ask parents or guardians to closely supervise their young children while picking to ensure their safety and the well-being of the blueberry bushes.

No, you don't need to bring your own containers for blueberry picking. We provide buckets or containers for picking blueberries. However, if you prefer to bring your own containers, you're more than welcome to do so.
Do you offer any pre-picked berries?

Is blueberry picking affected by weather conditions?
Blueberry picking is affected by weather conditions to some extent. Excessive rain, storms, or extreme heat can impact the ripening of the blueberries or make the fields temporarily inaccessible. If you have concerns about the weather, we recommend checking our website or social media pages for any updates or contacting us directly for the most up-to-date information.
Can I bring my pets to Pickablue Farm?
As much as we love our furry friends, pets are not allowed in the blueberry picking areas at Pickablue Farm. This policy is in place for the safety and cleanliness of both our visitors and the blueberry bushes.
Are you certified organic?
We grow our berries with organic practices, but have not gone through the certification process to be officially claimed as “Organic blueberries.” We are committing to not apply any chemicals or pesticides that can be harmful and everything we have applied to our field since its implementation is OMRI certified. This field has been organically family farmed for 25+ years and we strive to continue that tradition.
